    Frequently Asked Questions

Are water sports operational on the beach during Monsoon?

Goa faces heavy rainfalls from late May to September. Although water sports are active during the Monsoon season in the backwaters of state rivers, activities are majorly restricted in seas for safety concerns. The beaches like Calangute, Candolim, and Baga beach remain closed for water activities due to worsening and unpredictable weather conditions. Several water sports like Parasailing, paragliding and windsurfing are conditional on strong winds and often remain closed. But, it is an excellent time to enjoy water sports like River rafting, jets-kiing, Banana rides, kayaking and many more.

What are the best trekking options available in Goa during Monsoon?

Goa is undoubtedly equipped with scenic beauty and heartwarming sites to visit. While party lovers would prefer to travel in summer, the Monsoon is the best time to embark on trekking trails for adventure enthusiasts. Treks like Dudhsagar, Netravali, Virdi Falls, Tambdi Surla Falls, Hivrem Falls, Charavane Falls, Pali and many more are a treat for adventure lovers who like to pass through dense foliage and enjoy the lush green during the season. These waterfall treks in monsoons exude freshness and spectacular views and cost average for a budget-friendly adventure.

Where should you stay in Goa during the Monsoon ?

During Monsoon, Goa is not crowded enough like peak seasons, and there remain regular power cuts due to heavy rainfalls. Hence, it is important to choose your stay wisely to not end up in dark and isolated areas.

The beach shacks are usually shut down due to weather conditions, so it is best to live in South Goa resorts or on the busy Candolim, Calangute, and Baga stretch at an affordable cost, where you can find a lot of restaurants, hotels and parties on popular Titos Lane.

Are Beach Water Sports open during Monsoon?

Beach water sports are not open during Monsoon owing to bad weather conditions and high range winds and rainfall. The waves remain at its peak, and all the activities are closed down to maintain the safety of the travellers. Swimming and other beach activities are restricted by the Government of Goa, and it is suggested to maintain a 10 km distance from the waterline of the beaches. However, you can still enjoy water sports on the backwaters of Mhadei and Sal River. Along with water sports, you can also enjoy other adventure sports like Bungee jumping, Flyboarding and Paintball adventure.

Are water Sports available during Monsoon?

Yes, while you may hear that water sports are not operational in Monsoon in Goa, it is not wholly accurate. The beach activities are shut down not to risk lives as the sea may look calm, but a sudden large wave can shock you to the core. Hence, it is advisable not to engage in beach water activities. However, you can enjoy many water sports suited for the season and will give you a thrilling experience like River rafting, Banana ride, Scuba diving in Malvan, Jet skiing, Flyboarding, and many more.

What are the best places to visit during the Monsoon in Goa?

Goa in Monsoon offers plenty of spectacular places to check out. Some of the must-visits are Dudhsagar Waterfalls, Fort Chapora, and River Cruise in Mandovi River, Spice garden with long plantations, Udaan Dongor trek, Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, historical churches and Aguada Fort. You can also enjoy nightclubs and bars without worrying too much about the crowd. The Monsoon is the best season to explore Goa, take long walks, and surrender yourself to natural beauty. Lastly, you can also get a chance to enjoy Goal monsoon festivals and their colours.
